About Your Instructor
Virginia Valencia is a professional psychologist (2001) and a federally certified court interpreter (2008) with over 17 years’ experience in the fields of legal, medical, and conference interpretation.
She holds a Combined Certificate in Translation and Interpretation Studies (Hunter College, 2004) and is certified/approved by Superior Courts of NJ (2005), NY (2006), and CA (2012).
She currently lives in California, where she teaches and works as an interpreter.

Is this program for beginners, intermediate, or advanced interpreters?
Our program is beneficial for interpreters of ALL levels. The labs are organized sequentially from easiest to most challenging, so you can choose which labs to focus on depending on your skills.

How long is the program?
You will have access to the program for 12 months. If you wish to renew the program after that period, you may do so for a renewal fee of $ 129.

How many hours does the program take to complete?
The program consists of 45 interpreting labs, offering over 100 hours of training. You have the freedom to train at your own pace, complete as many labs as you wish, and follow the sequence you desire.

What type of court cases does the program offer?
To help you successfully prepare for Court Interpreter Oral Exams and real-life court proceedings, our program contains real court cases and documents. Only the identifying information has been changed to protect the parties' privacy.

How many consecutive practices are there?
There are a total of 27 consecutive labs in this program. Each one is offered at different speeds to help you progressively build your skills. These 27 labs are also available in the simultaneous mode, at various speeds.

How many simultaneous practices are there?
There are a total of 27 simultaneous labs in this program. Each one is offered at various speeds to help you progressively build your skills. These 27 labs are also available in the consecutive mode, at different speeds.

How many sight translation practices are there?
There are 18 sight practices in this program. They consist of documents taken from real court cases (only the identifying information has been changed to protect the parties' privacy).

Can I purchase practices for simultaneous, consecutive, or sight translation separately?
You may choose to focus on a particular interpreting mode, however you may not purchase them separately.

How fast are the simultaneous practices?
At the beginning of the program, you will be working with 100 Words Per Minute (WPM). As the program advances, you will be working up to 120, 140, and 160 WPM.

In the consecutive practices, how many words do the chunks of speech contain?
At the beginning of the program, you will be working with 15 words per chunk. As the program advances, you will be working up to 65 words per chunk.
